- I'm using the version of the book. I want the book to use to help me learn French.
I need to be able to participate to learn. The exercises are good, and you can copy them to word to Word on work with them, but the really helpful stuff, the stuff you want to refer back to or make Flash Cards of, are beyond my reach. I see them, they are really helpful, but I can't save them by themselves for future reference.
There is is a way to take notes inside the book (highlighting with quick reference back to the highlighted section) but no way to copy important tables to take notes outside the book, or to print anything. There is also a Flash Card feature (which would be great), but no instructions on how to use it. If I could figure it out it would be exactly what I need. I can type things into the Flash Cards, but the stuff I want on copy goes away when I open the card, so I need two copies of the book open at once, and then I need to deal with my meager typing skill to get the information on to the card correctly. Copy and paste, or a simple transfer button would be wonderful. If a feature like that is there, telling me how to use it would really be nice.
Just a little more interaction capability would make this a really good learning tool, the information is there. As it is, it's more work to dig it out and use it than it's worth ... in my opinion. - I'm enjoying working my way through this workbook this summer to keep improving my French. Pronouns and prepositions can be tricky. It's great to have further practice and review of key concepts.
You get helpful practice in writing sentences using pronouns and prepositions. I like the use of sentences because when I visited France, that's what I remembered from previous French study. I could speak in complete sentences.
Some of the chapter titles to give you a hint of what's covered include subject pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, disjunctive pronouns, direct object pronouns, order of pronouns, the pronouns y and en, possessive pronouns etc.
Pronouns are covered in part one of this workbook. Part 2 covers prepositions such as using them with geographical names, common prepositions, compound prepositions and prepositions with verbs.
I am very pleased with the format of this workbook, and am learning a lot! - I am a long time student of French and have a large library of handbooks, reference books, and workbooks. I bought this book a few weeks ago because it addresses an aspect of my French speaking and writing in which I find myself still making many mistakes. I have been acquainting myself with what it adds to my extensive collection of books. Pronouns and prepositions present an especially challenging problem to Anglophones. This book offers clear and complete explanations of the rules together with excellent examples. The exercizes address a wide range of usages. By foucusing in on very specific instances which are especially tricky, by re-reading the rules and practicing I feel I can impove a bit in this particularly difficult area.
- Excellent study guide with a host of exercises. Pronouns and prepositions can be very confusing, but this guide provides a step-by-step review that explains very simply their usage and the exceptions to rules. For the first time I started to understand placement and usage that many texts skip over. Suited for intermediate or advanced learners of French. Thoroughly recommended.
- A must if you are taking courses above French 1&2!
- Learn a lot, it's clearly presented (the information) good balance of info then quizzes, and fun
- This book and the others I purchased will stand me in good stead when I need to help my granddaughters as they progress through French in secondary school work. As a retired French teacher I am always looking for additional reference material to keep handy when I'm called upon for explanations and practice material.
- Outstanding - like really, really good. Thoughtful and well-organized. BTW, pass on the French Conversation book in this series - waste of $$ and time.
