Mensa 365 Brain Puzzlers PageADay Calendar 2016 Mark Danna Fraser Simpson 9780761183662 Books Reviews
- We've bought this a couple times, but are a bit disappointed this year. There have been at least half a dozen pages where the answers are actually wrong. By that I don't mean that I just disagreed with their answer, but rather that they had the completely wrong answer. For example one of the "burnt matches" answers wasn't even the same picture as the actual puzzle. It is obvious nobody proofread an actual printed deck.
- This is my second time purchasing this calendar. I bought it last year as a Christmas gift for my dad, and had to buy another this year at his request. He is not an easy person to shop for, but absolutely raves about these puzzles. He enjoys crosswords, sudoku, and most any logic puzzle. This calendar provides a great mix of puzzles and problems, which are quick enough to do each day, but still challenging. I would also like to mention that I've purchased many page a day calendars in the past, and that this calendar has an exceptionally strong construction. I am not at all concerned that it will come loose from its backing.
- I've had the Mensa calendar for two years running now, and it's fine. No complaints on content. But why is the 2017 calendar still for sale, more than two weeks into 2018? I bought this thinking it was the 2018 calendar. I know, kind of ironic that I do something stupid while trying to by a calendar for smart people, and the fault is only mine, but still. Come on.
- So, in general, I really like this calendar. It has more "word" problems than I'd like, but most "intelligence" folks tend toward the more verbally skilled, where as I lean more logical. But that's not why I gave it 3 stars. Many of the puzzles aren't solvable. I'll work on one... get frustrated... I mean, I should be able to get ALL the logical puzzles. I'll give up, flip the page to look at the answer, and realize they've listed an answer for a different puzzle. The drawings aren't even the same. What the heck!?!
- These puzzlers are the perfect gift for the person who doesn't want to waste a lot of time playing games, but enjoys a great unique puzzle each day. There is a good variety of math, language, strategy and logic puzzles. Some are quite challenging, and occasionally there is a hint to send you in the right direction. The answers are provided with great explanations of how to approach the puzzles if you really get stuck. I gave 3 of these as gifts and finally bought one for myself!
- The calendar is great, but it wasn't packed well for shipping. About 3/4 of the calendar pages had separated from the stand, probably during shipping. I think it slid around in the shipping box when it got thrown onto or off of the truck and that's when it broke apart. I taped it back together and it works fine since it just sits on my desk.
- I try to buy this particular calendar very year for my husband as one of his Christmas gifts.
He really enjoys this one best of any other brain teaser/puzzle calendar.
Every once in a while they are sold out and I've had to try others and he usually is a bit disappointed
and continues to rave that the Mensa one is the best! - Got this for my husband for Christmas. It is one of his standard items that he always wants. He is fairly intelligent and he loves to do the Mensa puzzles and seems to be pretty good at it. I have tried them and don't have much luck at them (except once in awhile). If you love challenging puzzles or know someone who does this would be an excellent gift for them. I think I have gotten my husband one every year for the last 10 years or so.
