Two Times As Hot An Oklahoma Nights Romance Cat Johnson 9781420136913 Books Reviews

  • **This is not a ménage book. It is two guys competing for the same woman. Breathe easy**

As Becca finds her happily ever after, Emma is now in search of hers. While being burned by a previous encounter with Jace a year ago, she plans to make him regret what he missed. And keep her eyes open for any other available cowboys.

Logan is Tucker's boss and lifelong friend. Logan's patience is waning, as he impatiently waits for the pre-wedding celebration to end, and having to deflect the aggressive romantic advances of Tucker's very young sister. Until he sees Emma getting out of her parents rental car. He is completely bowled over by her beauty. As introductions are made, gazes lock igniting the chemistry between the two.

However, Emma has already accepted Jace's invitation to be his wedding date and is quickly regretting the decision after meeting Logan. It also seems that another, much younger, female has laid claim to Logan. How can Emma compete with a twenty something with perky breasts and who also has a history with him? Get a little more wine into Emma and there's no telling what will happen next.

This is another winner for Cat Johnson! I am really enjoying this series and I absolutely love her Oklahoma cowboys! I liked the plot and how not much time had passed between the first book and this book. I am so glad we didn't miss Becca and Tucker's wedding and was completely intrigued by the dynamics of the storyline.

Jace, Jace, Jace. I cannot believe he did it again. In lieu of not spoiling it, I will say no more. I am concerned about his extensive emotional baggage and I look forward to finding out what makes this cowboy tick. I don't like love triangles, but since Jace only gave a half-hearted shot at trying to win Emma, I can let that slide in this book. I was also concerned for Tara, Tucker's sister, and how her deep-seeded crush may have been caused by some past trauma. I'm looking forward to learning more about her too.

What really brought this book home for me was the family aspect. How Tucker's family and Logan's family were neighbors and grew up with each other. And as tragedy struck, I loved how the families pulled together to help each other out.

What affected me the most was the love Logan's mom and dad had for each other. How much they loved each other, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. It was completely beautiful. Many people don't have that kind of dedication and love anymore. It's wonderful to see, even if the characters are fictitious, the love was real.
  • It had been over 6 months ago since I read the first book in this series, so I did not remember much of the details, only the over-all plot of "One Night With a Cowboy". I did remember, that I found all the folks to be very likable characters.
Cat Johnson starts this book, with a section from that first book, which was very helpful. As in the first book, the author continues to create an enjoyable, hot, romantic read.
This book has a simpler plot than the first book and yet I liked it better. I guess, I was in the mood for a simple, pretty predictable, love story involving sisters/brothers, and life long friends. What I liked, is the way the family relationships were weaved into every part of the story line. I believe family and strong friendships are so important and it is nice to read book that showcases those values. (Yes, between the very steamy scenes under the covers, or on the workbench, or at the cabin, or in the shower, etc.)
I remember liking Logan from the first book and even thought, he would be a good match for Becca, if things did not workout with Tucker. I have to admit, I barely recalled Jace, though, after reading the first couple of chapters, he came back to me. The author displays realistic conversations between the sisters, Emma and Becca. I could relate to Emma wanting the same type of love her sister found. I really enjoyed reading all about Tuck and Becca's wedding, as so often, the actual wedding events are over-looked. Tara and Jace's characters added some friction and Tyler added entertainment. Tyler was my favorite.
I hope he gets a love story this Series. Rating- a Solid 4.
  • This is a continuation of the book "One Night with a Cowboy" with the professor's sister's story. After being disappointed in
the first story, the sister attends her younger sister's wedding where she meets her sister's husband's friend and boss.
The frustration of an one sided long distance relationship when the second party is mysteriously unavailable, the tension
of obtaining a marital commitment without explaining the reason for the haste...was a tad dramatic and suspenseful. The
interjection of the girl next door youthful attention, attraction, and obvious sexual hints to the guy gave the sister concern
that her more mature personality might not measure up to the competition....led to a interesting suspenseful romantic story.
  • I really liked Logan and Emma's story. The writing was smooth, the characters had depth, and the dialogue was natural. The pacing was good and the flow of all events felt real.

But I hated chapter twenty-one. Suddenly, in the middle of all this good came a sort of Keystone Cops episode. This one found out and then this one knew and oh, yea, he overheard, too. And if that wasn't enough, then came all the "well-meaning" interference. It felt, to me, out of place and made me really angry. I found myself fuming, "Butt out," half a dozen times.

    Apparently it pushed my buttons.

Other than that chapter, I enjoyed everything else.
  • This was a good follow up to One Night With a Cowboy. The story flows well with no lulls. The character's chemistry believable. I typically always love Cat's novels. This was no exception. I found that the bedroom scene's weren't as steamy as I was accustomed to from a Cat Johnson book but it didn't deter the likability of the book in the least. I love a book that can tie me up into knots and keep me reading just so I can see how it all gets resolved. This book did that and then some. Well done Cat. I'm eagerly awaiting the third installment to see how Jace and Tara ride the fine line between love and hate.
