Romance novels aren't like other genres and hitting all the things that romance readers want can be tricky. How do you make your readers believe your characters are falling in love? How do you show that sizzle of attraction? How do you write a good kissing scene? How do you bring in the much-needed tension but still have your characters flirting and getting closer? In this book, I take one of my romance novels (Acting Married) and I go through the entire novel with you, basically interrupting myself to tell you what I was thinking as I was writing the novel. It's like watching a movie with commentary. I pull back the curtain so you can see why I started it the way I did, why I decided to put certain scenes in, and what pushes the romance forward in the book. I preface all this with what I consider the essentials of a good romance novel, and I end with my list of well-loved romance tropes that you can draw from in order to write your own bestselling romance novel.

"If I could give this book ten stars I would. So many light bulbs went off in my head while reading this. So many writing guides tell you to do this and that. Build conflict into every scene for example. but no one can honestly tell you how to do that. Victorine makes things so much clearer and to use her own book was just brilliant. Now I was able to understand conflict tension and how this all plays in writing a novel. I got so many ideas for my own book when I read it.Thank you so much this!!!!!!!!"

How to Write a SwoonWorthy Sweet Romance Novel Victorine E Lieske 9781987434781 Books Reviews
- Victorine Lieske offers practical advice for romance authors who want to make money from their endeavors. She and her fellow "Writing Gals" espouse the idea of writing to market, so Victorine's tips have been road-tested and proven to work. The way she demonstrates how to gradually amp up both physical and emotional intensity is clear and effective. I plan to re-read this gem frequently.
- If you've ever thought you'd like to write a romance, this is THE book for you. Ms. Lieske uses one of her published novels to show the who, what, where, why, and how to successfully write in this genre. (two books in one!) Excellent and enlightening lessons on how to build from the initial attraction, first kiss, and the ups and downs of conflict to arrive at the happily-ever-after. I had a lot of, "oh, wow," moments while reading this book. I can't wait to write my next romance novel and use what I've learned.
- I found so much helpful information in here. So often I read books on writing and it feels redundant, but as a sweet romance writer, it's tough to get such specific information. I especially appreciated Victorine's explanation of the one to ten levels of emotional and physical connection. She did a wonderful job explaining her process of methodically pushing characters together, having an action/reaction cycle and then having them pull back each time. It was a concept I understood, but it was always a bit fuzzy. But Victorine's explanation and examples from her book were crisp and easy to grasp. I had so many aha moments while reading this book. It was so eye opening for me and I feel like my sweet romance books are going to be so much better after reading this book.

- I walked away with a lot of ahh moments after reading this book. Although I don't presently write in this genre, I was impressed with the author's method of writing. She made me want to write a sweet romance. Highly recommended.
- There is so much great information in this book. I love how the author walks you through an actual romance and explains how she builds story and anticipation for the reader. Really, it is two books in one...win-win! I know the description of tropes used in romance will be very useful for any romance writer, whether for a primary or secondary plot line. Highly recommend!
- I picked this up on KU because I thought it was useful. Read it, enjoyed it, definitely my jam.
Then later I checked it out again because I remembered there being something useful that I hadn't appreciated the first time. Checked it out again. Re-read it.
The third time, I just bought it. It's really that useful for me that I don't want to tie up a borrow slot for a beloved and virtually dog eared reference.
Goes through a full piece point by point, after important information. Every time I read it, I notice more that helps me write. - I am currently writing my first romance novel. I had forgotten just how exciting how the interaction can be when someone feels attracted to another but some instance in their lives holds back the blossoming of romance. I like the fact that she took her own book and picked it apart as to what is written. I purchased her married series and read the book while comparing it to my story and what is effective. The "How to Write a Swoon-Worthy Romance" book has given me ideas on how to improve my novel. I groan at the amount of re-write I will need to do.
